Ambassador of the United Kingdom of the Great Britain and North Ireland to Montenegro Mr Ian Whitting guest of “Democracy Workshops”

Ambassador of the United Kingdom of the Great Britain and North Ireland to Montenegro Mr Ian Whitting visited earlier today Democracy Workshops of the Parliament of Montenegro on the topic “European Union”, where he spoke with students of VIII-3 class from primary school “Njegoš”, Cetinje.

Answering the questions posed by children, Ambassador Whitting explained closely to participants of the Workshop the importance of unifying of European countries, experience of the Great Britain in the accession process and why it was important for Montenegro to become a part of the Union. In this context, he also spoke about the values ​​that citizens of Montenegro should promote in order to help joining the EU, responsibilities of individuals on that path, and how young people can contribute to this process.

Ambassador Whitting said to the children that they should be devoted to education, emphasising that the more effort they make, the more opportunities they will have in the future.

Workshop “European Union” covers topics, such as: history of the European Union, its institutions, values, term “integration to the EU” and its significance for young people.

From the beginning of the project implementation, 8 October 2012, until today, project Democracy Workshops has gathered 7636 primary school students – participants in workshops from 67 schools from 20 Montenegrin municipalities.
