Ordinary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Central European Initiative held in Vienna

In the framework of the Austrian presidency of the Central European Initiative, ordinary annual session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Central European Initiative, as well as meetings of general committees "CEI-PD" were held in Vienna, in the period from 17 to 19 November. 

The work of this year's session of the Parliamentary Assembly was attended by members of the Permanent Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro to the parliamentary dimension "CEI", MPs Mićo Orlandić and Danko Šarančić.

At the session of the Parliamentary Assembly "CEI-PD", it was discussed about the following: "25 years of CEI - achievements and the way forward" and "CEI - Agenda for 2014-2016: Towards a Knowledge-based Society". The meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly was preceded by meetings of general committees "CEI - PD", that is the General Committee on Political and Home Affairs, General Committee on Economic Affairs and the General Committee ON Cultural Affairs.

During the debate, very important and successful role of the Central European Initiative in the past 25 years was pointed out, which was primarily reflected in strengthening cohesion and integration among member states of this initiative. It was emphasized that "CEI" represented a special forum for stimulating the promotion of the idea of further enlargement of the European Union, fully supporting the European aspirations of the countries in the Western Balkans.

Also, the support was expressed for the "CEI Plan of Action 2014 - 2016" as a concise but ambitious mechanism that focuses on activities and fields of interest of "CEI" and that is tightly bound to the plans and policies of the European Union. The importance of business development dimension of "CEI" as an additional mechanism for strengthening regional cooperation, the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises as well as attracting new investments was emphasized.  

At the end of the meeting, the Final Declaration was adopted, which stated conclusions and main points of discussion from the meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Central European Initiative "CEI-PD".

This was also the last parliamentary activity of the Austrian Presidency of the "CEI", toward the next, Macedonian Presidency of this initiative during 2015.
