Standing Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro to the NATO PA visits Sarajevo

Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly composed of Mr Mevludin Nuhodžić and Mr Obrad Mišo Stanišić is participating in the visit of the NATO PA Committee on the Civil Dimension of Security to Sarajevo, taking place in the period 7-10 March 2016.

On day one of the Sub-committee’s visit to Sarajevo, the meeting was held in the headquarters of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina with members of the Joint Committee on Defence and Security, Collegium of the House of Representatives and House of Peoples and members of the Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the NATO PA.
 Head of Delegation to the NATO PA Mr Nikola Lovrinović welcomed the attendees on behalf of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the NATO PA, and the following took part in the meeting on behalf of the host country: Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr Šefik Džaferović, Chair of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr Ognjen Tadić and Chairperson of the Joint Committee on Defence and Security Mr Sifet Podžić.

In the continuation, members of the Committee on the Civil Dimension of Security of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly met Minister of Defence Ms Marina Pendeš. At the meeting they presented the most important activities of the Ministry and projected plans for the period to come.

Afterwards, the meeting of participants in the visit with representatives of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held.

Embassy of the United Kingdom, as a contact point embassy for Bosnia and Herzegovina, organised the round table for delegates of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly - representatives of member states with ambassadors. Permanent Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro to the NATO PA also attended the meeting, upon the invitation.

The final part of the visit was market by a meeting of the Committee on the Civil Dimension of Security of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly with representatives of the civil society. During the discussion, participants exchanged opinions on the current security issues in the Western Balkans region and beyond, with a special reference to global challenges and threats, and possibilities of finding solution for their prevention and resolution. 

Activities within the visit of the Committee on the Civil Dimension of Security - Sub-committee on Democratic Governance of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly will be continued tomorrow.
