SAPC meeting in mid-December

Meeting of the European Union - Montenegro Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee (SAPC) will be held in mid-December.

With the aim of holding and conducting fair, free and unchallenged parliamentary elections planned for next year, the President of the Parliament of Montenegro has initiated the opening of a dialogue in the Parliament with all political actors of the 25th Convocation of the Parliament of Montenegro.

Spokesperson of the European Commission Ms Maja Kocijančić emphasised on several occasions that “all political parties should be constructively engaged in the initiative proposed by President of the Parliament Mr Ranko Krivokapić, aimed at finding the way for improving the current political situation. Political dialogue and talks should take place in the Parliament”.

The public is familiar with the fact that a number of Members of the Parliament of Montenegro do not participate in the work of the Parliament and its bodies, and President of the Parliament on several occasions launched an open initiative towards the MPs for their return to the highest body of the legislative power, supported several times by the EC officials, thus the SAPC co-chairs Mr Ranko Krivokapić and Ms Anneliese Dodds agreed to reschedule holding of a SAPC meeting for the mid-December of this year, in order to provide - by a dialogue and activities - the greater number of MPs to participate in the work of this Committee.

Due to importance that this joint committee of Montenegrin and European parliament has for Montenegro’s integration processes, as well as for strengthening democracy and rule of law, there is a wish for making a room for stabilisation of open political issues in our state, which will result in more productive and efficient work of the SAPC.
