First day of political consultations

President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr. Ranko Krivokapić, had consultations today on the occasion of scheduling presidential elections and held talks with the president of Croatian Civic Initiative, Ms. Marija Vučinović, the president of Democratic Party, Mr. Fatimir Gjeka, MP of FORCA, Mr. Genci Nimanbegu, the president of Liberal Party of Montenegro, Mr. Andrija Popović and the president of Bosniak Party, Mr. Rafet Husović

President Krivokapić expressed assurance that the upcoming elections would be another test of democratic maturity of Montenegro regarding respect of legal norms and democratic standards, that guarantee fair and transparent election process.

President Krivokapić acquainted the representatives of political parties with the Constitutional obligation of the President of the Parliament regarding the scheduling of presidential elections and deadlines for their holding.

He emphasized that consultations were the form of good parliamentary practice aimed at exchanging opinions with representatives of parliamentary political subjects on the occasion of upcoming presidential elections.

During the talks, it was jointly stated that, during the upcoming election process, all political parties would be ready to contribute to additional strengthening of democratic reputation of Montenegro as a country in the negotiation phase with the European Union.
