The director of the Agency informed co-rapporteur Mr Leyden on activities implemented with the aim of creating preconditions for the beginning of the work of the Agency. He pointed out that the Agency would take over all responsibilities of the Directorate for Anti-Corruption Initiative and Commission for Prevention of Conflict of Interests, but also cover a wide spectre of new responsibilities in the field of prevention of corruption.
Mr Radonjić presented strategic goals of the future Agency as well as main activities on drafting secondary legislation and establishing the information system of the future Agency. He talked about space and technical capacities of the future Agency and informed the co-rapporteur on the plans for strengthening administrative capacities through employment of new staff.
Mr Radonjić emphasised that the Agency would consistently and proactively meet all commitments prescribed by the laws regulating that area, as well as commitments arising from the Action Plan for negotiation chapter 23, and put maximum efforts for achieving concrete and measurable results. Additionally, activities directed towards general and professional public, aimed at promotion of new responsibilities of the Agency and encouraging citizens to report the corruption to the authorities were presented.
Member of the Council Mr Bojan Obrenović informed Mr Terry Leyden on activities of the Council planned for the next period.
A special attention in the conversation was devoted to the activities related to strengthening trust in the election process, implementing the Law on Funding of Political Parties and meeting GRECO recommendations with regard to the election process.
Co-rapporteur Mr Leyden assessed that the Agency would have an important role in the overall fight against corruption in Montenegro, and expressed hope that the Agency would be successful in implementing its duties.
