EXTRACT FROM THE RULES OF PROCEDURE OF THE PARLIAMENT

  1. Scope of work

Article 8

The President of the Parliament shall:

- convene and preside the sittings of the Parliament;

- ensure the application of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament;

- ensure the organisation of the work of the Parliament;

- ensure timely and coordinated work of the working bodies of the Parliament;

- make decisions with regard to receiving foreign delegations and officials as well as their visits;

- make decisions with regard to travelling of MPs abroad, if the relevant costs are to be borne by the Parliament;

- sign acts of the Parliament;

- perform other tasks envisaged by the Constitution, law and these Rules of Procedure.

He graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences – Major in Biology, at the University of Montenegro.  He underwent professional development in the field of in vitro fertilization (human reproduction)  at the University Medical Centre Maribor, Slovenia. He is a graduate biologist-embryologist.

He started his service as a professor of biology in Grammar School “Petar I Petrović Njegoš” in Danilovgrad.  Today he works as an embryologist in a medical institution for artificial insemination “Life'', where in 2003 the first Montenegrin test-tube baby was conceived in laboratory.  He has been a member of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology since 2004.

He began his social engagement as an activist in the civil sector. He is a founder and long-time director of the NGO Green Home. During his twelve-year long experience in the civil sector, he was a member of the National Council for Sustainable Development, Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO, member of the Commission on Environmental, Economic and Social Policy of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), etc.

He had study visits and underwent professional development in multiple European states (Norway, Austria, Slovenia, etc.), as well as in the United States of America.

He was elected as the President of the Positive Montenegro at their founding congress of 2012. He became an MP that same year. He is a member of the Security and Defence Committee, the Anti-corruption Committee, and the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants.

He was elected the President of the Parliament of Montenegro on 02.06.2016.

He speaks English.
