Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro to participate at the PACE April Session

The focus is on the issue of protection of children from sexual and other types of abuse, and the Montenegrin Delegation is headed by Mr Zoran Vukčević, PhD, including the MPs Ms Draginja Vuksanović, PhD, Mr Predrag Sekulić, PhD, and Mr Damir Šehović, MA.

Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, to participate at the April Session, which is being held in the period from 22nd to 26th April 2013 in Strasbourg.

The April Session will be especially be focused on the issue of protection of children from sexual and other types of abuse, and in that regard the following will be considered: Draft Resolution on Fighting “child sex tourism”, Draft Resolution on Ending discrimination against Roma children, as well as the Draft Semi-Annual Report on the “One in Five” campaign, in which Montenegro also participates.

Two fundamental strategic aims of the “One in Five” campaign are stimulation of signing, i.e. ratification of the Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse, provision of knowledge and practical solutions for prevention and reporting of sexual violence against children, as well as raising awareness levels on actual proportions of sexual violence against children.

On the Agenda of the PACE April Session, among other things, there will be discussion on the Draft Reports on the following topics: Observation of presidential elections in Armenia, held on 18th February 2013, Post-monitoring dialogue with Turkey, Violence against religious communities, Culture and Education via national parliaments, Young Europeans - Educational challenges, Annual Report for 2012 of the Commissioner of the Council of Europe for Human Rights, Mr Nils Muižnieks.  

During the April Session, the members of PACE will also be addressed by Mr Joachim Gauck, president of Germany, Ms Bidzina Ivanishvili, Prime Minister of Georgia, Didier Burkhalter, Vice President of the Federal Council, Head of Federal Department for Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, Antoni Marti, Prime Minister of Andorra and Viktor Ponta, Prime Minister of Romania.
