On day four of the Session, debates were held on migratory flows in the Mediterranean, Proposal for Additional Protocol to the Convention on the Prevention of Terrorism, post-monitoring dialogue with Monaco, the use of drones in the context of human rights and international law, as well as on the call for the International Football Federation (FIFA) to repeat the vote on the host of the 2022 World Cup.
The PACE adopted multiple resolutions including the one calling on the EU member states to adopt the comprehensive approach to deal with migratory flows across the Mediterranean, as well as to strengthen search and rescue operations at sea, with provision of increased contributions.
Today, a decision was also made to end post-monitoring dialogue with Monaco, with continuation of following legislative and institutional developments in Monaco through the reports by the Monitoring Committee. In the Resolution, which was adopted on that occasion, they welcomed the significant progress made by Monaco in honouring its commitments since 2004.
In the afternoon part of today’s Session, the Council of Europe Human Rights Commissioner Mr Nils Muiznieks presented his 2014 Annual activity report.
During the day, meetings of the following were held: the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons; the Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination; the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights; and the Monitoring Committee.
At today’s meeting of the Monitoring Committee, Mr Terry Leyden (Ireland, ALDE) and Mr Ionuţ-Marian Stroe (Romania, EPP) were appointed co-rapporteurs for Montenegro in post-monitoring dialogue.
On the last day of the Session, the PACE will consider the issues of Equality and non-discrimination in the access to justice and the effectiveness of the European Convention on Human Rights.
