On final day of the PACE session, the participants discussed equality and non-discrimination in the access to justice and the effectiveness of the European Convention on Human Rights: the Brighton Declaration and beyond.
At today's session, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has adopted a Resolution which emphasises that equal treatmant to the access to judiciary should become reality and that Council of Europe member states should remove the existing obstacles in order to provide all citizens with equal access to judiciary, regardless of their status.
With regard to item of the agenda relating to the effectiveness of the European Convention on Human Rights: the Brighton Declaration, the PACE has adopted a Resolution welcoming the devotion shown by member states via Brighton Declaration, providing thus a long-term effectiveness of the European Court of Human Rights. For the purpose of achieving the further progress, the PACE, however, called upon the member states additionally to strengthen the principle of subsidiarity by more effective implantation of standards into domestic legislation.
The next session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will be held in the period 22-26 June 2015.
