Representatives of MPs clubs of the Parliament of Montenegro spoke today with the Head of the OSCE/ODIHR Limited Observation Mission, the Ambassador Geert Hinrich Ahrens.
The topic of the meeting were conclusions and recommendations from the OSCE/ODIHR report regarding the held parliamentary elections, harmonisation of the election legislation, and practice with the OSCE recommendations, as well as concrete forms of cooperation by which the future measures of Montenegro in implementation of OSCE/ODIHR recommendations are to be supported.
The Ambassador Ahrens said that the OSCE/ODIHR mission considered the previous parliamentary elections in Montenegro to be good and positive, that the pre-election campaign was fair, and that the media were free regarding the reporting of the whole election process. Mr. Ahrens added that Montenegro, in that regard, had reached a satisfactory level of democracy.
Representatives of MPs clubs of the Montenegrin Parliament expressed pleasure regarding the OSCE/ODIHR report and stated a unique position on the essential consent with its recommendations. The parliamentarians expressed gratitude for the several years long cooperation and assistance in democratic procedures.
The interlocutors also agreed that the OSCE/ODIHR report on the held parliamentary elections in Montenegro provided contribution to the collective trust of citizens in the election process.
