The Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro attended the ceremony of celebration of 135th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Bulgaria

Celebration of the 3rd March, the day of liberation of Bulgaria.

The Vice-President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr. Suljo Mustafić, and MP Vladislav Bojović, at the invitation of the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, Ms. Cecka Caceva, attended the ceremonies on the occasion of 135th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Bulgaria.

Honoring the victims of war for liberation of the Republic of Bulgaria, the members of the Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro laid down flowers and attended the ceremonies that are traditionally held all over the country, and especially in Sofia and Pleven, as the cities that were the sites of major battles in the struggle for liberation.

During their visit to Bulgaria, the Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro has had the official receptions with the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Rosen Plevneliev and Ms. Cecka Caceva, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria.

In his conversation with the Vice-President Mustafić, Mr. Plevneliev expressed his pleasure over the traditionally good and friendly relations of the two countries and emphasised the need for promotion of cooperation in the fields of tourism, defence, internal affairs and the economy.

At the official reception, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, Ms. Cecka Caceva, presented the Charter ”Josif Gurko“ to the Vice-President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr. Suljo Mustafić, and MP Vladislav Bojović, as a token of gratitude for contribution to the promotion of relations between Montenegro and the Republic of Bulgaria.

On that occasion, Ms. Caceva expressed hopes that the cooperation of the two parliaments would be at an even higher level in the future.

The ceremonies in Bulgaria were also attended by Mr. Ivan Meljnikov, first Vice-President of the Russian Duma, as well as the representatives of the parliaments of the countries whose soldiers, by their engagement, contributed to liberation of Bulgaria.

As a holiday, the 3rd March has been celebrated in Bulgaria since 1880, when the Russian Tsar Alexander II was crowned, and in 1988 it was declared as the Day of Liberation. It became a national holiday in 1987, and by 1990 Decree, the 3rd March has been included in the list of national holidays of the Republic of Bulgaria
