The gathering is aimed at presenting the role of the defence system of Member States under the Common Security and Defence Policy of the EU, with special attention to the restrictions regarding budgetary allocations, as well as prompting discussion on the manners of overcoming the economic crisis so as not to threaten the functioning of the defence system.

It was planned to have the representatives of the Committee on Defence and Security, ministries of Defence, ministries of foreign affairs and European integration of the countries in the region, as well as representatives of relevant international institutions and organisations in that field, to participate in the work at the gathering.
