Mr Miodrag Lekić was born in Bar, on 21st November 1947, where he finished both elementary school and Gymnasium, and he graduated at the Faculty of Political Science, with international major, in Belgrade in 1971.  

As a holder of scholarship by the Government of France, he attended specialist studies in Paris 1976/77. He worked as a professor in Gymnasium Niko Rolović, he was a director of Information and Cultural Centre, and he continued his professional engagement in Titograd (Podgorica), as a member of the Executive Committee and the Government of Montenegro. He was a member of the Yugoslav Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO.

In his diplomatic career he was the Ambassador of Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to Mozambique, Lesotho and Swaziland, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, the Ambassador of Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, and then Serbia and Montenegro, in Italy and Malta.

As of 2004 he has been working as a professor at the La Sapienca University in Rome – Faculty of Humanist Sciences, and as of 2006 at Luis – Faculty of Political Science.

In 2011 he had been one of the founders and CEO of the NGO “Centre for International Policy and European Integration – CEMP”.

He published multiple research papers in the field of history of international relations and diplomacy. In 2007 in Cagliari he won the Italian award “Francesco Alziator” for the best book of foreign author from the Mediterranean area published in the Italian language, for his book La mia guerra alla Guerra (published by Guerini associati, Milano). The translation of that book was published by “Službeni glasnik” in Belgrade, titled “Moj rat protiv rata” (My War against War). He is the author of the book “Istorija Italije” (History of Italy) in two volumes (published by Daily press – Podgorica). He is also the co-author of the books “Dopo la pioggia” (published by Argo – Lecce) and “Italia e Montenegro” (published by Laterza- Bari). In Italy he published papers in journals “Limes”, “Affari internazionali” and “Lettera internazionale”. He also published comments and reviews in Montenegrin daily newspapers “Dan” and “Vijesti” (cultural insert “Art”), and in Belgrade journal “NIN” and newspaper “Politika”.
