Working Group for Drafting of the Proposal for the Resolution on European Integration met with the Head of the European Union Delegation to Montenegro, H.E. Mr. Mitja Drobnič, the Ambassador, on Wednesday, 27th February 2013.

Members of the Working Group informed the Ambassador Drobnič of the work of the Working Group, as well as of the intention for the Document which would precisely define the role of the Parliament in the EU integration process, its relation with the Government of Montenegro and other relevant subjects, to be a part of the Agenda, during the Spring Session. It was particularly emphasized that there was agreement of all political parties that the role of the Parliament in integration process should be strengthened, and that this Document should be adopted as soon as possible.

Head of the European Union Delegation to Montenegro agreed with the members of the Working Group that it was a very significant document, which would, inter alia, define the role of the Committee on European Integration during the process of adoption of the negotiating positions. The special attention should also be paid to the issue of drafting the strategic plans, such as national program for integration, the efficient use of pre-accession funds and ensuring transparency of process.

At the meeting, there was the discussion on the work of amending the Constitution of Montenegro, and further strengthening of the oversight role of the Parliament.
