“Second World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue” held

Vice President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Suljo Mustafić participated in the Second World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, held in Baku, in the period from 29 to 1June

 

The Forum was organised within the Baku process on intercultural dialogue, by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan together with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization “UNESCO”, United Nations Alliance of Civilization, UN World Tourist Organisation, Council of Europe and “ISESCO” organisation, under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr Ilham Aliyev

At the opening ceremony, the President Aliyev said that the holding of the Forum was the continuation of the activities within the “Baku Process” initiated in 2008, with the aim of further improving the intercultural dialogue and mutual cooperation in the era of globalization. Mr Aliyev said that organising of forums must not be the only activity related to strengthening the intercultural dialogue but that it was necessary to prepare and implement a number of activities in order to improve intercultural dialogue.

During the Forum, within various sessions, there were discussions on the following topics:”Cultural corridors in Southeast Europe, Black Sea and Caucasus regions – shared heritage, common responsibilities, sustainable future”, “The New Era of Globalization: Hybridity of cultures in a changing world”, “Dialogue through History Teaching: Best Practices and Challenges”, “How to build public support for cultural diversity”, “Intercultural Dialogue through History Teaching: Best Practices and Challenges”, “Tourism as a key driver of mutual understanding and tolerance among peoples and cultures” and “The Role of Corporate Sector in Promoting intercultural dialogue and diversity”.

Vice President of the Parliament Mr Suljo Mustafić, together with participants of the forum, visited the Gabala region and town Sheki, known as areas of rich ancient history.

During his visit to Azerbaijan, Vice President Mustafić had a meeting with supreme religious leader Mr Allahshukur Pashazade. On that occasion it was emphasised that relations between Montenegro and Republic of Azerbaijan were progressing in political, economic and cultural field.

Second World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue gathered a great number of high officials from all over the world, including Ministers of Science and Culture of the Government of Montenegro Ms Sanja Vlahović and Mr Branislav Mićunović as well as Reis of Islamic community in Montenegro Mr Rifat ef. Fejzić.
