Vice President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Željko Šturanović met today in Podgorica with the Head of European Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Netherlands Mr Jean-Pierre Kempeneers. Deputy Head of Mission to the Embassy of Netherlands Ms Dominique Kühling and the Secretary Rule of Law to the Embassy of Netherlands Ms Mina Noor also attended the meeting.
Vice President Šturanović welcomed the people present and expressed pleasure over the overall good cooperation between the two countries, and thanked the support that the Netherlands provided for Montenegro in the previous period, in achieving its priorities, with special regard to European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
During their conversation, Vice President Šturanović informed his interlocutors on the structure and the manner of operations of the Parliament. He mentioned the tasks that the Parliament managed to complete, such as amendments to the Rules of Procedure, which helped establish new solutions for promotion and more efficient work of the Parliament.
The interlocutors paid special attention to the constitutional amendments, expressing belief that they would be adopted in the following period, in order to create further conditions for additional ensuring of an independent and autonomous role of judiciary, and starting primarily from the opinions and suggestions of the Venice Commission.
