The President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr. Ranko Krivokapić participated today in the debate on the topic: “Constitution of Montenegro – five years later”, organised by the Lawyers Association of Montenegro in regard to celebrating five years of adoption of the Constitution of Montenegro in 2007.

Opening the meeting, President Krivokapić said that no community transitioned like Montenegro so easily from one-national, one-religion into a multinational and multi-religion, and now traditionally and normatively, and finally by a new Constitution, into a civic Montenegro. 

 “It is a path lasting a little over a century”, said Mr. Krivokapić, adding that many civilisations are going down that path for a thousand years.

The fundamental value of Montenegrin Constitution is a civic Montenegro. In the Balkans there is only one country that has its citizens as holders of sovereignty. That is the basic value of civic Montenegro”, concluded President Krivokapić.
