- Let us demonstrate now, inspired by the Helsinki +40 process, that we are ready to set a noble and creative path in the time of new uncertainties. Today’s world is not bipolar, but polycentric, and therefore more complex and less predictable then it had been at the time of OSCE foundation. Let me be precise: OSCE can allow itself to be static only about one thing – its values. Those values must remain undisputable, now more than ever, in a rapidly changing world. I am convinced that OSCE may be a driving force, capable of providing freedom and democracy, as well as leadership that will maintain them”, Mr Krivokapić pointed out in his address.
Mr Krivokapić had a meeting today with the Minister of the Russian Federation Mr Sergey Lavrov. Mr Krivokapić and Mr Lavrov spoke on the future of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and the contribution of the Russian Federation to drafting of the Helsinki +40 final document. Mr Lavrov emphasised the full support for Mr Krivokapić’s plan of presidency, pointing out the expectation that, with his entering into office, the existing good cooperation would be promoted.
Mr Krivokapić also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany Mr Guido Westerwelle. In their conversation, Mr Krivokapić pointed out that Montenegro dedicated special attention to cooperation with Germany, as a founding state and one of the key members of the EU.
Mr Westerwelle stated that the overall enlargements talks were currently focused on Montenegro which, with regard to the future NATO and EU membership, was currently the most ready candidate country. Mr Westerwelle also commended Mr Krivokapić’s leadership of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
The interlocutors agreed that the credibility and leadership demonstrated by the PA, especially in the context of election observation, were recognisable in the scope greater than its member states.
Yesterday, Mr Krivokapić met with the host, the President of the Verhovna Rada Mr Vladimir Ribak, with whom he spoke on the current political situation in the country. In his conversation with Mr Ribak, Mr Krivokapić pointed out that peaceful demonstrations are an important expression of the will of the citizens that must be completely protected, as well as that a dialogue led within the democratically elected institutions strongly contributed to their strengthening.
