“Esteemed citizens of Podgorica,
Your city is signed in the list of the oldest settlements in this part of the Balkans, which had the destiny of heavy destruction in the World War II. It rose proudly from the ashes as Titograd and had been basing its development on work, unity and solidarity for a long time.
Podgorica was not only liberated by the heroic effort on 19 December, and has celebrated that Day as its own, but it has also been a day of special significance for Montenegro and all of its citizens – as of Saint Nicholas Day Constitution in 1905 until the opening of the doors of the European Union to the Montenegrin passports in 2009.
On behalf of the Parliament of Montenegro and on my own behalf, I wish you a happy 19 December - the Municipality Day of the Capital Podgorica.”
