President of the Parliament of Montenegro and OSCE Parliamentary Assembly at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington

President of the Parliament of Montenegro and OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is staying in Washington at the National Prayer Breakfast, hosted by the President of the USA Mr Barack Obama. 

During his visit to Washington,President of the Parliament of Montenegro and OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Mr Ranko Krivokapić met congressmen dealing in particular with providing support to Montenegro on its path to NATO integrations.

Mr Krivokapić also met a Congressman Mr Michael Turner, Chairman of the U.S. delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, members of the Helsinki Committee and former president of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Mr Hastings.

During the visit, it was agreed that Montenegro’s caucus, headed by the Congressman Turner, would send a letter to the United States State Secretary Mr John Kerry, with signtures of more than 30 respectable congressmen, with a request the enlargement issue to remain a key priority of the USA at the September's NATO Summit in Wales, supporting thus Montenegro as the readiest candidate.

On the occasion, Chairperson of USA delegation to NATO Parliamentary Assembly promised that the USA would continue to support Montenegro PA for gaining the support of other Atlantic alliances within the NATO,  on its path to NATO Alliance.

President Krivokapić had a separate meeting with former president of the OSCE PA, Congressman A. Hastings. The Congressman Hastings voiced willingness and readiness to start an additional initiative, which would gather a number of republicans and democrats dealing in particular the issue of NATO enlargement, with the aim of Montenegro’s approach to the Alliance.

During all the meetings, participants highlighted that these are key months where an additional effort and progress was necessary, prior to meeting of ministers of foreign affairs of NATO member states in June, in order Montenegro to meet its obligations and in same time sustain the interest of alliances for enlargement.
