Ambassador Nagy thanked to President Pajović for the reception and informed him on the impending ratification of the NATO Protocol Accession for Montenegro in the Romanian Parliament. Ambassador Nagy said that Romania supported Montenegro’s full membership to Euro-Atlantic Alliance and it the same time was a partner for its European path.
President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Darko Pajović said to the Romanian Ambassador that he praised that help and support, given that, as he said, the process of Euro-Atlantic integration was one of the important aspects of Montenegro in the following period. He said that, on that occasion, he would attend a ceremony regarding the first ratification of Montenegro’s accession process to NATO in Ljubljana. That is the first ratification by some state.
In the continuation of the conversation, President Pajović informed Ambassador Nagy that the government of electoral trust has begun its work in line with the agreement of 27 January, whose aim was, as he reminded, to achieve Euro-Atlantic integration, political stability and democratisation of the society for the purpose of better control of the forthcoming election process.
“In addition to the control function, the Parliament of Montenegro should undertake an active role in achieving the common goal - fair and free elections in October”, President Pajović repeated, and added that the Parliament of Montenegro would establish new working bodies in June for monitoring the election process and that the parliamentary dialogue would be continued.
The interlocutors also spoke about recently held local elections in Romania, as well as about Romanian experience in pre-election campaign and during the voting.
