President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Darko Pajović today signed the Cooperation Agreement with 57 non-governmental organisations. The Cooperation Agreement between the Parliament of Montenegro and non-governmental organisations in Montenegro is aimed at strengthening trust between the Parliament and non-governmental organisations as well as creating sustainable partnership based on the principles of transparency, openness and mutual respect.
- This Agreement encourages strengthening of institutional dialogue between the Parliament and non-governmental organisations through improved mechanisms for information exchange and favourable conditions for the effective and efficient participation of non-governmental organisations in creating public policies and the consequent legislative solutions, Mr Pajović stressed in his address to signatories of the Agreement.
President Pajović also emphasised that the goals of the Agreement and coordination of activities on planning, designing and implementing projects were of mutual interest and significance for the wider public.
He also added that increasing the effectiveness of work of the non-governmental organisations and the levels of parliamentary openness towards their requests, and improvement of accountability of the Parliament to the citizens, represented the support to more efficient harmonisation of laws of Montenegro with the acquis of the European Union in the field of human rights, rule of law, culture, education, health system, social policies, environmental protection and other relevant fields.
Mr Pajović also emphasised that the Agreement was also open to all other non-governmental organisations.
