During the conversation, MEP Ms Lunaček acquainted children with the following: work of the Parliament in working bodies and plenum, difference in functioning between European Parliament and national parliaments, importance of democracy and power division as well as role of the Parliament in democratic process. MP Lunaček advised students to be curious and interested in events in their community as well as to address adults regarding solving problems significant for their life. She emphasized that, in the light of accession process of Montenegro to the European Union, it was important for children to learn foreign languages.
Visit to democratic workshops was organised on the occasion of participation of MP Lunaček in the work of Sixth meeting of Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee, held in Podgorica on 29th and 30th April.
Project “Democratic workshops” is organised by the Parliament of Montenegro, with technical and expert implementation of the Forum Young and Non-formal Education (Forum MNE) and financial support of the ERSTE Foundation. The project is aimed towards strengthening the children interest for democracy and political processes. On the workshops, the students have opportunity, through creation of different media products such as child newspapers and radio programme, to acquire knowledge on parliamentary democracy, adoption and implementation of laws, election process and other topics. The project “Democratic Workshops” has been implemented since 8th October 2012, and it gathered so far 3323 primary school students from eight Montenegrin municipalities – Podgorica, Nikšić, Danilovgrad, Kolašin, Bar, Budva, Kotor and Herceg Novi.
