Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will participate in the PACE Autumn Session, which will be held in Strasbourg, in the period 30 September – 4 October 2013.
During the Autumn Session, MPs to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will be addressed by Armenian President Mr Serzh Sargsyan, Serbian President Mr Tomislav Nikolić and the Speaker of the Russian State Duma Mr Sergey Naryshkin.
On the first day of the Session, a ceremony will also be held to award the first ever Václav Havel Human Rights Prize.
The Agenda of the PACE Autumn Session includes discussion on national security and access to information, the functioning of democratic institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as children’s right to physical integrity. In addition, the requests for urgent debates on the situation in Syria will also be considered.
Secretary General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Mr Angel Gurría will address the Assembly within annual discussion on activities of the Organisation, while Mr Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, will speak on missing persons from Europe’s conflicts.
Armenian Foreign Minister and Chairperson of the Committee of Ministers Mr Edward Nalbandian will answer MPs questions.
Council of Europe Secretary General Mr Thorbjørn Jagland is also due to address the parliamentarians.
During the Session, there will be also discussions on combating discrimination against older persons on the labour market and strengthening the institution of Ombudsman in Europe
