Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe meets the Delegation of the Council of Europe Secretariat

Delegation of the Council of Europe Secretariat is paying an official visit to Montenegro on the occasion of drafting the next Report on Honouring Obligations and Commitments by Montenegro to the Council of Europe.

Members of the Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe: Mr Predrag Sekulić, PhD, Mr Mladen Bojanić, Ms Draginja Vuksanović, PhD and Ms Snežana Jonica met today with the Delegation of the Council of Europe Secretariat composed of: deputy director of the Directorate of the Council of Europe Mr Danil Khoshabo and advisors Ms Biljana Prlja and Mr Dario D'Urso. Delegation of the Council of Europe Secretariat is paying an official visit to Montenegro on the occasion of drafting the next Report on Honouring Obligations and Commitments by Montenegro to the Council of Europe, with the aim of gathering information on realised activities and for the purpose of drafting more objective Report which will be considered at the meeting of the Group for Democracy at the beginning of the next year, and afterwards at the Committee of Ministers. On that occasion, a set of meetings have been organised with representatives of relevant bodies in Montenegro.
The visit is very important since it occurred shortly before the official visit of Secretary General of the Council of Europe Mr Thorbjørn Jagland to Montenegro, scheduled for 8 November 2013, as well for the fact that the Report will be published before the draft of the Report by co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which will be considered at the plenary meeting of the PACE, in June 2014. During the meeting, activities of the Parliament of Montenegro regarding fulfilment of commitments to the Council of Europe were discussed as well as acting of Delegation of Montenegro to the PACE. Special attention was paid to topics relating the adoption of constitutional amendments, work of the Working Group for Building Trust in the Election Process, anti-discrimination legislation and increase of percentage of women in politics. All participants of the meeting agreed that the meeting was very useful, and representatives of the Council of Europe Secretariat stated that members of Montenegro Delegation to PACE provided for them a set of very important information on current activities of the Parliament of Montenegro, and those would be very useful while drafting the report on honouring obligations and commitments by Montenegro to the Council of Europe.
