Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will participate in the PACE Spring Session, which is being held in Strasbourg, from 7 to 11 April 2014.
During this session, Mr Sebastian Kurz, Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Austria, and Chairman of the Committee of Ministers, as well as Mr Heinz Fischer, President of Austria, will address the members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
Mr Nils Muižnieks, Council of Europe Human Rights Commissioner, will present the Annual activity report 2013 by the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights.
During establishing the agenda for the spring session, the members of the Assembly will vote on the request for emergency debate on the topic: “Recent developments in Ukraine: threats to the functioning of democratic institutions”.
Request for Partner for Democracy status with the Parliamentary Assembly submitted by the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic will also be considered at the session.
At the spring session there will also be a debate on the situation and rights of traditional national minorities in Europe, the right to Internet access, improving user protection and security in cyberspace, as well as prostitution, trafficking and modern slavery in Europe.
Furthermore, the members of the Assembly will share opinions on implementation of the European Convention on Nationality.
On the final day of the session, at the plenum of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the debates will be held on the refugees and the right to work, relocation of refugees and the need for greater solidarity in Europe regarding their status. The topic for discussion will also be ending child poverty in Europe.
