The Parliament initiated drafting of the Parliamentary Glossary with the OSCE support

Initial meeting of the Working Group held today.

Secretary General of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr. Damir Davidović, on the occasion of initiating the drafting of the Parliamentary Glossary, had a meeting today with the members of the Working Group which is to work on this project. Mr. Davidović thanked the Organization for Security and Co-operation to Montenegro, for its understanding and providing of support to this project of the Parliament.

It is envisaged for the Parliamentary Glossary to cover relevant terms frequently used in parliamentary theory and practice, both Montenegrin and international. The special attention will be paid to terms related to the integration process to the EU. The Glossary will contain terms in Montenegrin and English, with short and easily understood concepts in both languages and synonyms as well.

With regard to the key role of parliaments in the process of integration to the European Union, and intensifying of communication between the Parliament of Montenegro and international community and public, and the fact that the number of documents in foreign language, the most often in English, is increased, the need for general understanding of parliamentary terms is recognized, and therefore the work and development of the Parliament. As the terminology is extremely important for accuracy, consistency and quality in translation, the aim of the Parliamentary Glossary is to help users to understand complex structures and specific parliamentary terminology in Montenegrin and English. In addition, the Parliament of Montenegro wishes to contribute this way to informing and educating of the public of the Parliament and its activities, what is desirable in both languages in contemporary circumstances.

It is expected for the Parliamentary Glossary to be useful not only for the experts from the parliamentary field and translators, but also for the pupils, students and broader public. It is planned for the Parliamentary Glossary to be finished by the end of the year, and the Working Group for its drafting will be consisted of Ms. Ivana Jelušić PhD Docent, Ms. Olivera Komar PhD Docent, Mr. Igor Lakić PhD Docent and Ms. Jelena Pralas PhD Docent, as well as employees of the Parliament of Montenegro.
