The topic of the meeting was so-called Nordic model of cooperation as well as possibilities of its implementation within the discussion of reports and recommendations of the Igman Initiative experts.
The need for diversity respect and existence of political willingness for cooperation that the countries of region should strive for as well as the need for decreasing open issues in the relations of the countries of the region were pointed out.
Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Adriano Martins said that European Union countries supported the process of European integration of the Western Balkan countries and added that in that process parliaments had one of the key roles.
Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia Mr Peter Burkhard emphasized that in the region of the South East Europe, regional cooperation was an important mechanism for solving conflicts from the past.
Vice President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Suljo Mustafić as well as Deputy Speakers of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ms Vesna Kovač and Ms Gordana Čomić, Deputy Speaker of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Parliament Mr Lazar Prodanović talked on the need for strengthening regional cooperation. They pointed out to the significance of state parliaments, which should promote regional cooperation in the fields of economy, environmental protection, infrastructure, energy, transport and scientific research projects, culture and education.
At the end of the meeting, Co-Chairs of the Igman Initiative for Serbia Mr Aleksandar Popov, Mr Branko Lukovac from Montenegro and Zoran Pusić from Croatia stated that the regional countries should direct their cooperation to key fields agreed at the meeting, emphasizing the control over the law enforcement in the field of environment protection.
In addition, the Meeting of Presidents of Parliaments of the Dayton Accord Signatory Countries is planned to be held soon.
