The meeting which was organized within the activities of Austrian presiding over the “CEI”, was held from 10 to 12 June in Wien and dedicated to topic “Education as the investment in prosperity”.
As an introduction into the debate, the participants of the meeting used addresses of expert in the field of education Mr Alexander Schneider (Alexander Schneider) and Mr Kurt Nekule Director General of the Directorate for schools, education, development of quality and insurance. After the opening statements, followed the addresses of parliamentarians, members of delegation of national parliaments to the "CEI PD."
In his address, the head of the Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro to the "CEI PD" prof Miodrag Vuković PhD pointed out that the role of education is crucial in developing the vision of Montenegro as a society that is learning, developing the economy, where everyone has the opportunity for personal and professional development and social inclusion. In order for education to properly respond to the demands, it is necessary to realistically consider the socio-economic context in which education is provided, added Vuković. He also said that priorities such as higher economic growth and development, better living quality, social inclusion and improving of institutional capacities are feasible if structural discrepancies between labor offer and labor demand can be overcome and quality education provided.
Common position of participants is that is essential to further enhance mutual cooperation in the field of education and continue to work towards achieving the high European standards in this field. Also at the meeting, the importance of investing in human capital development was stressed, that will happen if it is invested in more quality education and skills development.
During his stay in Wien, participants of the meeting had an opportunity to visit the technical school "TGM" and learn about the functioning and the programs implemented therein.
At the end of the meeting, the text of the Joint Statement was harmonized and adopted, where conclusions and guidelines for national parliaments and governments of "CEI" member states were summarized.
