During the meeting of the Defense and Security Committee, the participants discussed within the panel debate a topic of “Norway’s role in new NATO initiatives” as well as the draft Report of the Sub-Committee on Future Security and Defence Capabilities on the topic: “NATO’S Readiness Action Plan: Assurance and Deterrence for the post-2014 Security Environment”. Subsequently, the participants considered the draft General Report on “Hybrid Warfare: NATO’s New Strategic Challenge”, the report of the Sub-Committee on Transatlantic Cooperation on the topic: “Strengthening the Transatlantic Link” as well as presentation on the topic: “The High North”.
The beginning of the meeting of the Political Committee was marked by debates on presentations: “Norwegian Foreign and Security Policy” and “Russia, the Arctic and the Changing Security Environment”. Thereupon, the participants considered the draft General Report “Russia and Euro-Atlantic Security” and Report of the Sub-Committee on NATO Partnerships “NATO’s Partners Across the Globe”, while the discussion was prompted by the topic: “Russia’s Foreign and Security Policy between Ambition and Reality”.
The meeting of the Economics and Security Committee was marked by presentations “Current Changes in Global Oil and Gas Markets”, “The Ukrainian Economy”, “The Corruption-Security Nexus” and discussions of participants of the meeting that followed the said topics. Finally, the discussion of participants was prompted by draft reports of the Sub-Committee on Transatlantic Economic Relations “Terrorism Financing” and the draft General Report “Sanctioning the Russian Economy: Costs and Impacts”, afterwards the attention of delegates was directed to the the draft Report of the Sub-Committee on Transition and Development “The State of the Ukrainian Economy and Prospects for its Future Development”.
The work of the Committee on the Civil Dimension of Security was marked by presentations on topics: “Charlie Hebdo and European Jihadism” and “Preventing Terrorism: A Holistic Approach”. This was followed by the consideration of the draft Report of the Sub-Committee on Democratic Governance: “The Battle for the Hearts and Minds: Countering Propaganda Attacks Against the Euro-Atlantic Community” and general report on the topic “Challenges in Addressing home-grown Terrorism”, while the discussion of the participants was prompted by the presentation “The Role of Parliaments in Advancing the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in NATO Member Countries”.
