Day three of the 61st Annual Session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly

On day three of the 61st Annual Session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, the following committees held meetings: Defense and Security Committee, Science and Technology Committee, Committee on Civil Dimension of Security and Political Committee

During the meeting of the Defence and Security Committee, the participants of the session considered the draft Special Report on Afghanistan “Post-ISAF”, and the debate was prompted by presentations on the topics “The Road to Warsaw and Beyond” and “Seaborne Migrations – Global Experiences and Lesson Learned” as well as the draft Report on the topic: “Daesh: the Challenge to Regional and International Security”.

The meeting of the Political Committee commenced with the discussion based on the presentation on the topic: “The Recent Developments in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region and their Implications for European Security” and the debate was prompted by discussion on the draft Report of the Sub-Committee on Transatlantic Relations on the topic “Instability in the Levant: Challenges to NATO’s Security”. Thereupon, the participants discussed the draft resolutions on the topics: “Strengthening Security and Stability through NATO’s Open Door and Partnership Policies” and “An Urgent Comprehensive and Unified Response to Crises in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA)”.

On the occasion, the work of the Science and Technology Committee was marked by presentations on “Social Media and Terrorist Propaganda” and “Iran - The Implications of the Nuclear Deal between the P5+ and Iran”. Subsequently, the participants discussed the draft General Report
“Russian Military Modernization” and reports of the draft Report of the Sub-Committee on Energy and Environmental Security on the topic: 
“The High North: Emerging Challenges and Opportunities” The work of this session was marked by discussion of delegates on the draft Special Report “Climate Change, International Security and the Way to Paris 2015”.

The Committee on Civil Dimension of Security commenced today’s work by consideration of the “Transition in Afghanistan: Implications for Central Asia” and participants’ discussion was prompted by the presentation on the topic: “Corruption and Security from Central Asia to Eastern Europe”.

Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro taking part in the 61st Annual Session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly is composed of Mr Obrad Stanišić and Mr Rifat Rastoder.

The session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly will be continued tomorrow, when the Plenary Session is to be held.
