On day one of the seminar, hosted by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, the participants were welcomed by member of the Moldavian Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Mr Dumitru Diacov, and after that the participants of the gathering were addresses by: President of the Moldavan Parliament Mr Candu Andrian, Moldavan Acting Prime Minister Mr Gheorghe Brega, Vice President of the NATO Mr Paolo Alli and Head of the Swiss Parliamentary Delegation to the NATO PA Mr Hans Hess. This was followed by a presentation on "Foreign and National Security Policy Priorities of Moldova", presented to the participants by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ms Natalia Gherman. Former European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy and representative of the International Advisory Board of the Central European Strategy Council Mr Stefan Füle addressed the participants of the gathering by delivering keynote speech.
The next session was dedicated to "Building Integrity and Democratic Control", moderated by Mr Philipp Fluri, Deputy Director of the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF), who devoted his presentation to the topic "DCAF Engagement in Moldova". President of the Commission for National Security, Defence and Public Order of the Parliament of Moldova Mr Veaceslav Untila spoke on "Parliamentary Strengthening in the Field of Security and Defence", while former defence minister and a representative Information and Documentation Centre on NATO Mr Viorel Cibotaru presented "Status and Potential Legislative Reform of the Security Sector in Moldova“ to the participants of the meeting. On the occasion, the participants were addressed by Ambassador Mr Valeri Ratchev, who had a presentation on the topic "The independent view of the status and potential reform of the defence and security sector in the Republic of Moldova", afterwards the participants had an opportunity for a debate.
