On day two of the visit to Sarajevo by the NATO PA Committee on the Civil Dimension of Security - Sub-committee on Democratic Governance, a meeting was held with Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr Dragan Mektić, and, in their role of hosts, the meeting was attended by: Director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) Mr Perica Stanić; Director of the Service for Foreigners' Affairs Mr Slobodan Ujić, and Assistant Director of the Border Police Mr Slobodan Krstić. In their remarks, the speakers presented the current situation in the field of security in Bosnia and Herzegovina from the aspect of institutions which they represent and with their answers contributed to the discussion in the most significant part, based on the interest of delegates of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in the subject field: current internal and foreign affairs events in this region, issues of security nature at the global level, and their influence in the region of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In continuation, a meeting was organised with Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairperson of the BiH NATO Integration Process Commission Mr Josip Brkić and the Commission members.
It was followed by a visit to the Camp Butmir, during which the delegates were addressed by Brigadier General Giselle M. Wilz, representative of the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo and Major General Johann Luif, EUFOR’s commanding officer. The interests of participants in the meeting and subsequent discussions were, for the most part, dedicated to issues of level of achieved military reforms of defence sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina, full implementation of its results, identification of challenges in this field, and finding models for overcoming them.
This meeting concludes the work of the visit to Sarajevo by the NATO PA Committee on the Civil Dimension of Security - Sub-committee on Democratic Governance.
