Member of Permanent Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro to the Parliamentary Assembly of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) Mr Dritan Abazović participated in the meeting of the General Committee on Economy, Infrastructure and Energy “PA SEECP“, which took place in Sofia, in the period 20-21 March 2015.
The meeting concentrated on the topic of: “Improving energy efficiency in South-eastern Europe”, wherein the best practices and experiences in this field of “SEECP” member states were presented.
The Proposal for Resolution, established at the meeting, invites SEECP member states to continue the work on providing security of energy power supply of the region and whole Europe, by implementing the major projects that have been initiated.
The importance of harmonising and sharing the best practices was emphasised, which should result in establishing the system providing the energy security of the Southeast Europe.
The meeting strongly supported establishment and activation of the legislation striving to promote and support the introducing of renewable energy sources, as a key solution for sustainable development and energy efficiency in Southeast Europe. “SEECP” member states have been invited to work on fulfilment of the aims defined by the “EU 2020” strategy, by ensuring appropriate application and implementation of the regulatory framework, accession to funds and overcoming of the existing barriers.
MP Mr Dritan Abazović addressed the participants of the General Committee meeting, and on the occasion, pointed out the importance of improving energy efficiency. With regard to that, he said that Montenegro possessed a great energy potential which have not been used. For Montenegro, as a country dependable on the energy import, it is of great importance to improve the potentials of energy efficiency, so the improvement of situation in this field is of great interest for Montenegro from political and economic point of view, and particularly with regard to balancing foreign trade balance, Mr Abazović stressed.
At the end of the meeting, a Proposal for Resolution was established, summing up the conclusions, as well as Proposal for Report from the meeting, which would be sent to SEECP Parliamentary Assembly for consideration and adoption. Additionally, participants agreed the next meeting of the General Committee to be devoted to infrastructure in the region of the Southeast Europe and renewable energy sources.
