During the meeting titled: “Improving infrastructure in the South-East Europe - accelerating the priority projects”, the experiences of the SEECP member states in this field were considered, and ideas aimed at improving traffic connection of the regional countries presented.
The Proposal for a Resolution, established at the meeting, calls upon the SEECP member states to promote interinstitutional cooperation with the aim of strengthening expert capacities and sharing experiences and best practices, for the purpose of ensuring the inflow of investment in transport infrastructure. The meeting recommended further development and implementation of “TEN-T”, the comprehensive network in the South-East Europe, in accordance with relevant technical standards, and establishment of efficient transport system, which would facilitate the full integration of the region in the EU transport system.
In addition, it is necessary to improve the connectivity of the South-East region by placing an additional focus on the cross-border cooperation and elimination of narrow bottlenecks and non-physical barriers.
The SEECP member states were recommended to focus, by acting together, on establishing the unique regional approach in investing in infrastructural development.
The Proposal for a Resolution, summing up conclusions, as well as the Proposal for a Report of the meeting, were established at the end of the meeting, and they would be forwarded to the SEECP Parliamentary Assembly for consideration and adoption. Also, upon the proposal of MP Mr Dritan Abazović, they agreed that the next meeting of the General Committee should be devoted to the topic: “Green energy, potentials and investments in the South-East region”.
