Chairperson of the Security and Defence Committee Mr Mevludin Nuhodžić today has met with the NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT) General Denis Mercier, who is paying an official visit to the Ministry of Defence.
In addition to members of the visiting delegation, the meeting was also attended by Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Montenegro Admiral Dragan Samardžić. In his address, Chairperson of the Committee Mr Mevludin Nuhodžić emphasised that Montenegro’s new status in the collective security system would contribute to further strengthening of institutions, as well as the overall democratic development of our society.
Furthermore, he informed the guests on the achieved results in the field of reform implementation, with special reference to the role and contribution of the Parliament of Montenegro in the said process, as well as the activities of the Security and Defence Committee in that respect.
Topics covered in the meeting, among other things, included the current security challenges in the area of the Western Balkans and the Euro-Atlantic community as a whole, NATO’s missions and tasks, priorities in the said period, as well as the regional perspective of Montenegro’s membership to the Alliance.
They jointly showed readiness for continuation of cooperation in the field of full integration, and it was assessed that consolidation of knowledge, capacities, and resources, and primarily building and keeping trust through joint work, represented a clear path and contribution to stability and security, both in the regional and international field.
