Chairperson of the Security and Defence Committee Mr Mevludin Nuhodžić met today with the Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Mr Alex Petriashvili. On that occasion, he presented the competencies and past activities of the Security and Defence Committee, with special regard to the significance of adoption and implementation of the Law on Parliamentary Oversight in the Fields of Security and Defence and pointed out the successful cooperation and partnership with the authorities and institutions in this sector, as well as efficiency confirmation of implementation given by the relevant international actors. He expressed pleasure regarding establishment of Friendship Group with Montenegro in the Georgian Parliament and pointed out that today’s encounter represented an additional confirmation of both sides readiness for further promotion of cooperation at bilateral level, as well as a quality foundation for further cooperation of the parliamentary working bodies in charge of defence and security issues.
Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Mr Alex Petriashvili pointed out that the current visit represented a quality foundation for promotion of cooperation of the two countries on many accounts. Also, he presented past activities in the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration and pointed out the significance of promotion of cooperation at the parliamentary level.
At the meeting they spoke of past results and aspirations of Montenegro and Georgia in the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration, implementation of communication strategies on the European and Euro-Atlantic integration, participation of soldiers in peace missions, as well as support of the public in integration processes of both countries.
The interlocutors deemed as important further promotion and sharing of experiences on the path towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration, and expressed beliefs that positive assessments on the progress of both countries on their path of implementation of foreign policy priorities would be presented at the next NATO summit.
