Chairperson of the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget Mr Aleksandar Damjanović met representatives of the Directorate General for Competition Ms Isabelle Neale-Besson and Ms Tereza Setnickova as well as the representative of the Directorate General for Enlargement of the European Commission Ms Maria Fernandez, today.
The meeting was focused on sharing opinions about honouring of obligations that Montenegro has undertaken by signing the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAC) in the process of joining the European Union, in the part covered by the Chapter 8 - Competition policy.
Representatives of European Commission directorates general said that the situation in the Aluminium Pland JSC Podgorica (in bankruptcy) should be monitored with a special attention, with the aim of applying European Union rules on competition.
Chairperson of the Committee Mr Aleksandar Damjanović said that the public call for selling a part of KAP assets is on-going and that he expected that the advertisement would result in serious offers which would provide market sustainability, not requiring additional budgetary allocations. Additionally, it was pointed out that executive and legislative power would endeavor to provide timely and more intensive cooperation within their competencies, thus enabling strengthening of Montenegrin economy, in the spheres that it has been the most vulnerable.
