51st meeting of the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget held

At is 51st meeting, the Committee held a control hearing of the following: Mr Radoje Žugić, Minister of Finance, Mr Vladimir Kavarić, Minister of Economy and Mr Ognjen Jovović, bankruptcy administrator of the Saltworks “Bajo Sekulić” JSC Ulcinj; the hearing was held for the purpose of obtaining information on the bankruptcy procedure in the Saltworks “Bajo Sekulić”, with special focus on protection of rights of workers at the Saltworks.

The Committee stated that situation of workers at the Saltworks was worrying, and that their problems - primarily related to: payment of unpaid salaries, paying taxes and contributions as well as manner of managing the Saltworks in bankruptcy  and managing its property - should be solved urgently. Additionally, participants concluded that it was necessary to create conditions, as soon as possible, for providing electricity to the Saltworks – in order the production process to be continued and possibility of enormous consequences for the property of the Saltworks avoided. 

During the discussion, it was assessed that all interested parties need to be included in the process of finding a model for solving many problems in this business enterprise in bankruptcy.

It was agreed the Committee to draft conclusions on conducted control hearing at the following meeting, and submit those to the Parliament of Montenegro for adoption.

The several-hour long discussion was also attended by representatives of trade union of Saltworks “Bajo Sekulić” and  MPs of Montenegro from Ulcinj.
