Members of the Committee on Economy, Budget and Finance, Mr. Aleksandar Damjanović, Mr. Almer Kalač and Mr. Mladen Bojanić, and the NGO “Civic Alliance“ and GIZ representatives (German Agency for International Cooperation), paid a study visit to the Energy Community Secretariat in Vienna, as part of the implementation of the second phase of the project ”Public dialogue on energy efficiency in Montenegro”.
The Director of Energy Community Secretariat, Mr. Janez Kopac introduced the guests with the history of the Energy Community, starting from 2005, that is the signing of the Agreement on establishing Energy Community of the South-Eastern Europe countries and pointed out that by this visit, cooperation between the Secretariat and representatives of the Parliament of the member state of the European Community is being established for the first time, comparing to the previous practice of cooperation with the government and regulatory agencies.
An expert in the area of energy efficiency and renewable source of energy – Mr. Borko Raičević, Head of the Department for energy infrastructure and energy efficiency – Ms. Violeta Kogalniceanu and an expert the gas – Ms. Karolina Cegir, through presentations pointed to the role and mission of the Energy Community, which tends to increase energy efficiency, renewable sources of energy through regional cooperation and preserve ecologic environment. Additionally, it was pointed out that Montenegro, as a member state, is expected to create sustainable legislative framework which will allow full compliance of the Energy Law and the Law on Energy Efficiency with existing and new directives of the Energy Community and full implementation of the Second Package of Agreement as well as taking obligations from the Third Package of Agreement.
