The Conference was focused on findings of the regional study – competition policy as well as considerating possibilities for extending the operations of committees on economy and finance in the direction of strengthening their role in the process, harmonising programmes of all the Western Balkans parliaments which are the members of the network, including aims that should be meet by 2015.
Findings of the Study Competition Policy in the Western Balkan countries were presented at the Conference, and experts from the region worked on those, namely: Ms Slavica Penev, Senior research fellow from the Belgrade Institute of Economic Science; Mr Fikret Čaušević, Professor at the Faculty of Economics from Sarajevo; Mr Ahmet Mancellari, Professor at the Faculty of Economics from Tirana and Mr Nikola Milović from the Faculty of Economics from Podgorica. Detailed review of the situation in the concerned field in the regional counties was provided through presentations and it was pointed out to the need of strengthening cooperation among parliaments and bodies dealing with the competition protection.
During the two-day Conference, the participants were addressed by representatives of: the Parliament of Montenegro, the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and the Parliament of Kosovo.
At the end of the Conference, the conclusions aimed at further promotion and strengthening of cooperation among parliaments of the region were adopted and future activities were agreed as well.
