Chairman of the Committee on European Integration, Mr. Slaven Radunović, met today with the Ambassador of Romania, H.E. Mr. Mihalo Florović

The continuation of cooperation of legislative bodies of Montenegro and Romania announced.

Chairman of the Committee on European Integration of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr. Slaven Radunović met today with the Ambassador of Romania, H.E. Mr. Mihal Florovic.

On that occasion, the Chairman of the Committee pointed out to the recent changes in the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament of Montenegro which, among other things, include forming of the Committee on European Integration, which is envisaged to monitor and evaluate EU accession negotiations of Montenegro on behalf of the Parliament. The Chairman reminded that the role of the Committee in the integration process had not been clearly defined, and that the Parliament, in its full capacity, is working on its positioning, i.e. on drafting of a resolution that would be the basis for the active involvement of the Parliament.

Having regard to the upcoming responsibilities of the Committee, but also of the Parliament as a whole, the Chairman Radunović has shown interest in the exchange of experiences and in establishing a close cooperation with the representatives of both houses of the Parliament of Romania, in order to transfer positive experiences from the European integration process, but also to point out the problems that the Romanian side faced during the accession process of this country to the EU.

The Ambassador Florović expressed pleasure over the success of Montenegro in the process of European integration and emphasised the absolute support of Romania in the further stages of the European integration process. The importance of continuing good communication of the legislative bodies of the two countries, through holding of regular meetings of MPs and civil servants, was emphasised as a significant part of the overall cooperation. In that regard, the interest of the Romanian side for organising an official visit of delegation of the Committee on European Integration of the Parliament of Montenegro to the Parliament of Romania was emphasised.
