Meeting of the Chairman of the Committee on European Integration with the Delegation of Finland held

Finland will provide necessary expertise help to Montenegro.

Chairman of the Committee on European Integration, Mr. Slaven Radunović, met today with the Delegation of Finland, headed by the Director General of the Department for Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Mr. Juk Salovar.  
Chairman of the Committee expressed pleasure over the friendly relations of the two countries, emphasizing on that occasion gratitude for the help which Finland has been providing to Montenegro in the process of European integration. He acquainted the guests with the position and competences of the Parliament in legal and political system of Montenegro, and especially with the role in the negotiation process for membership to the European Union of the recently established Committee on European Integration.
Director General, Mr. Juk Salovar, emphasized the significance of the legislative body in the European integration process and for that purpose he presented experiences of the Committee on European Integration of the Finland Parliament. He also expressed willingness of Finland to provide expertise and other necessary help to Montenegro.
Mr. Radunović and Mr. Salovar agreed that the solution to the issues, which are the basis of the negotiation Chapters 23 and 24, was of a special significance for further progress of Montenegro in negotiation process. They concluded that for the improvement of economic cooperation of the two countries, as well as for potential investment to Montenegro, strengthening of system institutions through mutual control of the branches of government, independence of judiciary and removing of business barriers was of special importance.
