During the first day of the visit, members of the Delegation held several meetings with the representatives of the Senate and Government of Romania.
Chairman Radulović and a member of the Committee Sekulić met separately with the Minister for European Funds in the Government of Romania, Mr. Eugen Orlando Teodorovic, Deputy Speaker of the Senate of Romania, Mr. Cristian Dumitrescu, Chairwoman of the Committee on European Affairs of the Senate of Romania, Ms. Anca Boagiu, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Senate of Romania, Chairman of the Friendship Group between the Parliament of Romania and Parliament of Montenegro, Mr. Dorin Ursulesku, as well as with Secretary General for Foreign Affairs in the Government of Romania, Mr. Radu Podgorean.
During the conversation with the representatives of the Senate and Government of Romania, Chairman Radulović expressed pleasure over the meeting, and pointed out to the importance of experience exchange in the European integration process, especially during the negotiations phase with the European Union. Mr. Radulović emphasized the importance of appliance of good practices and experiences during the accession process to the EU, but also stated that information regarding negative experience which Romania had in pre-accession period were equally useful.
During the conversation with the Minister Teodorovic, the importance of usage of the pre-negotiation funds of the European union, which are at disposal to the countries in the pre-accession process to the Union, was emphasized, especially for the countries such as Montenegro. In that regard, cooperation and help were agreed on the occasion of applying for funds “Taiex”, “Phare/Cards” and “Twining”.
During the conversation with the Deputy Speaker of the Romanian Senate, Mr. Cristian Dumitrescu, the importance of the membership to the Union for all countries of the Western Balkans was stressed, for the sake of stability and prosperity of this region.
Chairwoman of the Committee on European Affairs of the Senate of Romania, Ms. Anca Boagiu, praised, inter alia, successful path of Montenegro to the European Union membership and pointed out the need for strengthening the parliamentary diplomacy as important mechanism which would contribute to promoting activities which were continuously conducted in meeting EU standards.
On the second day of the official visit to Romania, members of the Delegation of the Committee on European Integration, will meet with Mr. Ovidiu Silagi, Chairman of the Committee on European Affairs and members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Romania.
