Chairperson of the Committee on European Integration Mr Slaven Radunović today participated in European Policy Summit in Brussels, titled: “Balkan Revival: Kick-starting Stalled Policies”. The Summit was organised by the nongovernmental organisation Friends of Europe’s in cooperation with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) and Italian presidency of the EU.
The first session “An EU Western Balkans agenda 2015-2020” was focused on politics that would be implemented by the European Commission in its new mandate, with regard to providing support for the regional countries in implementing key reforms in better and quicker way. Participants also discussed ‘enlargement fatigue’, Jean-Claude Juncker’s statement about five-year enlargement perspective, as well as the importance of improving the regional cooperation amongWestern Balkans countries
The second topic titled: “Economic development: Is the glass now half full?” was devoted to perspective of economic progress of the regional states. As main tasks in front of applicant countries for the purpose of improving economic development, the participants recognised the increase of foreign direct investments, strong fight against unemployment but also the improvement of tax and investment legal framework.
The Summit, which gathered a great number of participants, was preceded by working dinner, during which Chairperson Radulović met with high officials of the EU and Western Balkan countries, including MEP Eduard Kukan, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Italy Mr Benedetto della Vedova and European Commission Director General for Enlargement Mr Christian Danielsson.
