Implementation of the visit, due to promotion of cooperation and exchange of good practice, is very significant, having in mind that Croatia had met all the criteria for the EU membership, and the members of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms of the Parliament of Montenegro will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the work of the Committee on Human and National Minority Rights of the Croatian Parliament, as well as the work of all relevant institutions that deal with the issues of protection of human rights and freedoms and minority policy.
In the opinion of the Committee members, a study visit aimed at exchanging good practices, will significantly contribute to the further enhancement of work of the Committee, even though the progress in the work of the Committee of Human Rights and Freedoms of the Parliament of Montenegro has been recognized in the European Commission progress reports for Montenegro, for the years 2011 and 2012, and the Committee consistently receives praise from international organizations, state institutions of Montenegro and the civil sector on account of their work and cooperation with representatives.
According to the agenda established on the first day, the meetings of the Delegation of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms were set out with the following: National ombudsman, Ombudsman for Children, the Ombudsman for Persons with Disabilities and the Ombudsman for Gender Equality, and then with representatives of the Office for Human Rights and National Minorities and the Council for National minorities.
On the first working day, a visit to the Child Protection Center of the City of Zagreb was planned, so that the members of the Committee can get acquainted with the work of this institution and activities that it carries out, bearing in mind that the Center has been recognized as a successful model of working with children who have been victims of violence and underwent mental and physical torture and that this institution provides them with maximum professional rehabilitation and reintegration in society, which cannot be implemented in regular hospitals. At the end of the first working day, meeting with the National Community of Montenegrins and dinner hosted by Mr. Pedja Grbin, President of the Croatian Parliament Friendship Group with the Parliament of Montenegro had been planned.
On the second day of the study visit, the Delegation of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms of the Parliament of Montenegro will meet with Mr. Josip Leko, President of the Croatian Parliament, and after that will hold meetings with the following: the Committee on Human and National Minorities Rights, the Committee on European Integration and Foreign Policy Committee, as well as with the Gender Equality Committee of the Croatian Parliament.
The delegation of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms consists of the following: Dr. Halil Duković, Chairman of the Committee, Ms. Ljiljana Đurašković, PhD, Deputy Chairman of the Committee, the members of the Committee: Mr. Srđa Popović, Docent PhD, Mr. Kemal Zoronjić Ms. Ljerka Dragičević, Ms. Snežana Jonica, Mr. Dritan Abazović, MA, and the Professional Service Committee.
