Fourteenth Meeting of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants held

Initiative for control hearing of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Mr Igor Lukšić, PhD, on the Decision of the Government of Montenegro on joining the Joint Statement on Syria supported.

At the meeting held today, the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants unanimously supported the Initiative of MP Milan Knežević for control hearing of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Montenegro Mr Igor Lukšić, PhD, on the Decision of the Government of Montenegro on joining the Joint Statement on Syria.

In addition to the concerned Initiative, the Agenda covered the following: consideration of the Proposal of the Igman Initiative expert team on “Improving Inter-parliamentary cooperation among Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia, by using experiences from the Nordic model”, then reaching a Decision on expanding the Friendship Groups as well as discussion on forthcoming international activities of the Committee and models of cooperation between the Committee and emigrants.

Mr Branko Lukovac, co-chair of the Igman initiative for Montenegro, gave his contribution to consideration of the second Item of the Agenda relating to Proposal of the Igman Initiative expert team on “Improving Inter-parliamentary cooperation among Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia, by using experiences from the Nordic model”, emphasising on that occasion the importance of the concerned project in terms of consolidation and existence of deep awareness on advantages of togetherness. He said that neighbouring counties owned one to another engagement regarding solving joint problems with the aim of developing and re-integrating this region. Following meaningful and constructive discussion, the Committee positively assessed previously mentioned document, stating that it supported all good ideas aimed at strengthening of regional cooperation through parliamentary dimension.  

When it comes to friendship groups, the Committee decided the current list to expand with four countries, namely USA, Iceland, Malta and Germany, in accordance with interest of a number of MPs and concerned countries. In addition, forthcoming international activities of the Committee as well as models of cooperation between the Committee and emigrants were discussed at the meeting.
