Committee on International Relations and Emigrants of the Parliament of Montenegro is organising the Fourth meeting of foreign affairs committees of the parliaments of Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Croatia and Republic of Serbia, on Tuesday, 11 February 2014, starting at 9:30, in the hotel “City” (Podgorica).
The Fourth meeting is organised as a continuation of gatherings of foreign affairs committees of regional parliaments, which have started two years ago, i.e. since the initiative of closer cooperation among parliaments of Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina has been active.
So far, three meetings have been held, in Sarajevo, Zagreb and Belgrade.
Starting from the belief that consciousness on importance of the health environment is one of the key indicators of society maturity and that the protection of environment should become a standard of behaviour of every country taking care on future generations, it was decided at the last meeting held in Belgrade, that a meeting in Podgorica should be devoted to topic “Protection of the environment and sustainable development”.
Bearing in mind that the protection of environment is one of the most important segments of Montenegro’s international cooperation, particularly in the context of European integration and enforcing global and regional agreements and initiatives, cooperation with countries in this field provides irreplaceable contribution to implementation of current reforms in national frameworks. The aim of the Fourth meeting is raising awareness on importance and necessity of the protection of environment and sustainable development through exchange of views, practices and ideas among representatives of four parliaments and by creation of conditions for systematic approach in this field.
The meeting is opened for media reporting.
