Meeting Vuković - Krousti

Strengthening of parliamentary cooperation.

Chairman of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants Mr. Miodrag Vuković PhD Docent received today  the non-residential Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Montenegro, H.E. Ms. Nafsika Chr. Krousti

Chairman of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants Mr. Miodrag Vuković PhD Docent informed the distinguished Ambassador on the activities of the newly established Committee on International Relations and Emigrants. He also emphasized that the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants worked on the improvement of cooperation of the Parliament of Montenegro with other parliaments at bilateral and multilateral level, within friendship groups and through participation at numerous gatherings of international organisations and regional initiatives.

At the inquiry of Ms. Krousti, Chairman Vuković informed the Ambassador that the procedure of establishing the Friendship Group between the Parliament of Montenegro and Parliament of the Republic of Cyprus with the goal of improving and strengthening parliamentary cooperation is at progress, and that it would be formed soon.

Chairman of the Committee also emphasised the results of Montenegro achieved in the field of European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

Distinguished Ambassador Ms. Krousti stressed that Montenegro represented the example in the region regarding the adoption of the European standards and promotion of regional cooperation. She emphasized that Montenegro and Republic of Cyprus were directed to similar developmental paths, providing support one to another. Montenegro and Republic of Cyprus have an established cooperation in a number of fields, such as economy, tourism and defence.

In the context of the Cyprus Presidency of the European Union, Chairman Vuković praised achieved results and efforts during the presidency of Cyprus and wished a quick resolution of the crisis that struck the Republic of Cyprus.

During the meeting, the interlocutors emphasized that Montenegro and Republic of Cyprus have a very good cooperation, established friendly relations, and emphasized the intensifying of political contacts at the high level among the countries.

Chairman of the Committee voiced pleasure over the meeting with the distinguished Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus, and thanked for continuous support which the Republic of Cyprus provided for the EU membership.
